An inspiring foundation for patient engagement

The launch of our Patient Partnership Charter is a crucial and tangible step forward in our journey to build deeper, long-term partnerships with the patient community. Clearly setting out our joint ambition and commitments to work with and for patients, it stands as the embodiment of our Pioneering for Patients purpose.

Co-developed with patient representatives and patient advocates, the Charter is a binding promise to patients – and ourselves – that we will foster mutually beneficial partnerships, built on respect and transparency.

With the Charter as our benchmark, we can collaborate appropriately and effectively with patients and their representatives at every step of the medicine development process, and beyond. This will ultimately help us to make a difference for patients, their caregivers and their families.

‘With patients, for patients’

2021 was a critical time for our patient engagement efforts as we co-developed the Galapagos Patient Partnership Charter in close partnership with patients, advocates and patient representatives. The Charter is the embodiment of our approach to patient engagement, and we are proud that through the involvement of our patient partners, their views and expectations were embedded and reflected in our commitments. Putting the principles of the Charter in practice, we will continue to work with patients, for patients.

‘Better societal and company performances’

In the context of global convergence towards more meaningful and systematic patient engagement, it is great to watch Galapagos working together with patients and building on its core strengths and purpose to shape better health outcomes. The company and its people have embraced a fast-developing and fast-learning approach and started developing new capacities and capabilities to enable better health outcomes for and with patients, resulting in better societal and company performances.
